Modern lamps for high rooms - which will be the best?
Looking for a lamp for a living room with a mezzanine, an open hallway with a staircase, or perhaps a hotel reception area? You are lucky to have a spacious interior, but also quite a problem, because interiors with high ceilings need a different approach to lighting than rooms with standard heights. How to light a tall room? How to find modern lamps, so that it looks beautiful and impressive, and at the same time is functional? Read our guide and get inspired by our designs.
Lamps for high interiors - devise a strategy
Lighting a tall interior requires the right approach and a thoughtful strategy. First, build on what you already have at your disposal. Your resource may be natural light. However, for this to happen, even at the design stage of the building, some specific decisions about glazing should be made. Daylight streaming in through windows of considerable size, even reaching from floor to ceiling, will be the foundation on which to build the following elements. That is, in this case, plan lighting. In turn, after dark, the glazing, reflecting light, will build the atmosphere of the interior.
What's next? It is certainly worth thinking of the interior as if it were divided into layers and individual zones. Each of them requires individual treatment. At the same time, all these zones must be consistent with each other and form a coherent whole. Therefore, in a high room we need to take care of layered lighting, and therefore we need in it not only general lighting - ceiling lighting, but also functional and accentuating.
High ceiling - lamps for high rooms
The task of the main lighting is to illuminate the available space evenly and consistently - So that none of the interior zones are in darkness.
Where to schedule them? The main lamp can be in the center of the room, such as above the coffee table and lounge area. But it doesn't have to at all. What's more, designers encourage you to vary the placement of general light sources to build up the atmosphere of the arrangement and even allow you to introduce slightly less lit zones into the interior. Functional lighting can deal with these.
This is because it is worth knowing that general lighting needs a companion - one main lamp can not answer all the needs of both the interior and its users. Therefore, a huge role - in high rooms especially - is played by the mentioned functional lighting. In the case of an open interior with a living room, kitchen and dining room in one space, these are usually ceiling lights mounted above the table, between the two sofas, above the countertops, etc. A great solution is to complement it with lighting dedicated to a specific activity, such as wall sconces for the home library and reading corner.
So we have the main lamps and those that perform a specific function. Now it's time for lighting, the primary purpose of which is to build mood (accenting). These are m.in. wall lamps, standing lamps and LED strips. They gently illuminate the different zones of the interior, give diffused, soft light and allow subtle play of shadows.
Modern lamps for high interiors - lighting step by step
It still sounds complicated? Read our brief guide to learn how to design lighting in a high interior.
First, start with the main ceiling lamp. Consider which one will best meet the needs of the interior and its users. A lamp for a high living room with several light sources, located either at different heights or spacious enough to fill the interior's need for light, will be perfect here.
Second, plan its location. The main lamps for high interiors are installed at their highest point (for example, in multi-level rooms, with a platform or mezzanine) or in the representative or living area. Thus, it will be primarily a space above a lounge set along with a coffee table or dining room table.
Third, consider, where to install complementary lighting. Divide the interior (it is useful here to use the design of the room or draw the most important elements of the arrangement yourself) into sectors and choose those zones that need illumination.
Fourth, once you've determined where it makes sense to add additional light sources (or places), select the appropriate fixtures. The task is simple - when decorating one room, it is advisable to reach for lamps from the same collection. As an example, consider the Cloe family of lamps. Cloe three-point pendant lamp best juxtaposed with a single, located, for example, in the corner of the room.
Fifth, if you decide that another additional light source is needed in the interior, choose - depending on the arrangement - a wall lamp or standing lamp. Accompanied by the above-mentioned pendant lamps from the Cloe collection, a lamp placed, for example, on a table between a sofa and an armchair will work well.

Cumulus lamps - will help you to plan the mentioned layers of the room in an effective, yet practical way. As your main lighting, choose here lamp with fourteen milky shades surrounding the long frame. Cumulus changes depending on what perspective you look at it from.
Roll lamps - is, in turn, a proposal for modern interiors, loft-style living rooms or those with extreme minimalism. The most distinctive element of the Roll collection is plafond with eight cylindrical luminaires - tubes. The fixtures provide a centrally directed beam of light that will focus on a coffee table, dining room table or other focal point of the interior. To illuminate a room consistently, yet strikingly, complement the eight-point Roll with a lamp or strip with two points of light or practical and modern wall lamps.
Longis lamps - if you are looking for a beautiful lamp for high interiors, Longis will definitely meet your expectations. Depending on how large your space is, choose either a plafond with five light sources or a seven-point Longis Spider chandelier. On the other hand, over the dining room table, hang a tidy but striking skirting board from the same collection. Shades of transparent glass look phenomenal in the company of windows and in a bright interior, in turn, in arrangements with deep colors they give voice to the background.
